Aged Care Employee Day 2021

My journey in Aged Care began in 2016.
A beautiful 144 bed care home was being built in Ballarat and I decided to apply after seeing my beautiful Nan live with Dementia. I loved what Bupa stood for in the recruitment process, the values and the focus on the customer experience is something I am incredibly passionate about. I was lucky enough to join the home and see it flourish into the wonderful place it is today.
Working at Bupa Ballarat is an extraordinary privilege every day. Not too many people get welcomed into someone’s home every day and call it work and it’s an honour that I do not take for granted.
We are like a big family, we share the ups and downs and the team here make such a positive impact on our residents and me! During the COVID 19 pandemic our team has truly shone. We have been there to hold our residents’ hands, have a laugh and support them through this incredibly challenging time and we have managed to keep resilient and smiling ourselves. I feel so lucky to lead the home currently.
Working in aged care is unique and challenging at times. I love the interactions with our residents and their families and when I leave the home each day I know that we as a team have made a positive impact on our residents’ lives. Providing emotional support and care as entrusted by their families brings so much satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, knowing that I have been a part of the journey from enquiring about residential aged care to admission.
Here at Ballarat our nurses and care staff are the reason our home thrives in trying times. Our nurses ensure our residents have the best clinical outcomes and our care team are so passionate. Our Admin team welcome everyone upon entry like a warm hug. Each is an integral component to ensuring our residents and their families’ needs are met every day.
I work with the most amazing team who inspire me each and every day, I look forward to celebrating Aged Care Employee Day with them and I am so glad our staff have day where their contribution is recognised.
