Award winning village manager with the 'best job in the world'

Summary

Bupa Cashmere View Retirement Village Manager Rochelle Moore continues to be a supportive ear and a friendly face for her residents, winning Village Manager of the Year for the second year.

The Bupa Awards recognise retirement villages, care homes, rehabilitation sites, and individuals each year who achieve above and beyond. Rochelle’s award was measured against category criteria that included community connections, and resident satisfaction.

“I was actually overwhelmed, you don’t see things like this coming. I believe I have the best job in the world,” she said.

Rochelle’s sister, Lynda Mackay, is also a village manager at Bupa Parklands on Papanui Retirement Village. Rochelle moved to Christchurch ten years ago to be closer to her family, after living in Sydney as a nurse for many years.

She became a village manager six years ago and says she really enjoys managing the day to day operations in the village, coordinating any maintenance needed, and organising events, functions and activities for her 106 residents.

“Being able to bring my nursing experience into the village manager role has been invaluable. For me it’s doing the best I can every day. We’re a family,” she said.
