Meet Andrew: Health Support Consultant in Bupa's Customer Service team

Andrew Galbraith talks about his role as a Health Support Consultant in the Customer Service team.

I was living and working in London, but I moved home to Melbourne to be closer to family when Mum got sick. Finding a job with good work-life balance was really important to me, so I could be there for her as much as possible.

I’ve worked in customer service roles for years, but Bupa is my first time in a contact centre. Coming from retail, sitting behind a desk all day took a bit of getting used to, but now I really enjoy being able to give one customer all my attention and really personalise the conversation.

We speak to people who are going through tough times, when a loved one is sick or has just passed away, sometimes people tell you they are suicidal. You have to be careful not to take on those emotions, but I really like that I can decode the healthcare system for them and be a source of support and stability.
