Tony Johnson joins Bupa Group Board
Bupa ANZ Chairman Tony Johnson has been appointed to the Bupa Group Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective 1 June 2026.
The Bupa Group Board oversees Bupa’s long-term success and sustainability, setting strategic direction and risk appetite, overseeing management’s delivery within a strong governance framework, and ensuring Bupa’s culture aligns with its purpose, values and strategy across its global markets.
Tony has chaired Bupa’s ANZ Board since January 2024 and will continue in that role following his appointment to the Bupa Board.
Tony brings extensive leadership and financial services experience across Australia and New Zealand. He was a Partner and CEO of EY Oceania and served on EY’s Asia Pacific and global leadership teams. He currently serves on the boards of Allianz Australia, where he is Audit Committee Chair, Mercer Superannuation (Australia) Limited, Kieser Australia and E&P Financial Group. He is also a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club Committee, the Board of Management of the Melbourne Theatre Company and the Council of Monash University and is a Trustee of the Collier Charitable Fund.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Master of Business Administration (Executive), and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment, and is a Graduate and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a recipient of Monash University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
