Bupa calls for care worker migration reform

Ongoing workforce shortages across the sector and the direct impact on residents and their families, including delays in accessing care and reduced availability of services in some communities. We need migration settings that better support essential care roles and help attract and retain skilled workers where they are needed most.
Bupa recommends targeted reforms to improve migration pathways for nurses and personal care workers, streamline visa processes, and create clearer pathways to permanent residency. We also recognise the importance of addressing broader challenges such as housing availability to support workforce growth in regional areas.
