Bupa expands clean electricity partnership with Pacific Blue

Summary

Bupa has expanded its partnership with Pacific Blue in a new initiative that will provide its Australian employees with the opportunity to access savings through a carbon neutral or 100% green power electricity offer at home.[1].

This clean-energy initiative follows Bupa APAC’s announcement last year that all of its locations across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong are now supplied by 100% renewable electricity.

Bupa Asia Pacific Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Roger Sharp, said this clean power initiative aims to empower Bupa’s people to adopt simple, sustainable practices in their everyday lives.

“There’s a clear connection between a healthier environment, healthier communities and healthier individuals, and we all have a role to play in reducing carbon to make our planet cleaner and less of a threat to our physical and mental wellbeing.

“This is another step forward as we work towards becoming a Net Zero business by 2040, and our partnership with Pacific Blue reflects tangible actions we are taking towards building a sustainable movement within Bupa,” Roger said.

Bupa commenced its partnership with Pacific Blue in 2022 to fulfil the electricity needs of its Australian locations, including aged care facilities and corporate offices, saving over 25,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.

Pacific Blue CEO, Domenic Capomolla said his team was excited to continue partnering with Bupa as they take tangible steps towards achieving their net zero goals.

“When Bupa employees sign up to one of our energy plans, they’re creating greater demand for renewable energy and ultimately supporting a sustainable future for all.”

The partnership with Pacific Blue is a core part Bupa’s Mission Zero as part of its global Sustainability Strategy. One of Bupa’s strategic objectives is to transform its products and services that support customers' health to deliver healthcare more sustainably.

Bupa also supports ongoing programs and campaigns to enable our people and customers to reduce their carbon footprint and promote biodiversity. This includes Bupa Foundation partnerships, relationships with the start-up community and Bupa’s Healthy Cities program which last year provided $1 million in funding for environmental projects across Asia Pacific while promoting healthy lifestyles.

“We look forward to progressing our work on sustainability and sharing new ways we can support our customers, our people and our communities to live healthier, more sustainable lives,” Roger added.
