Changes in New South Wales – what’s opening and what are the rules

Summary

Bupa supports the national COVID-19 vaccination program as a critical pathway to keeping our community safe and reducing the severity of infection and the load on the health system.

We are strongly encouraging our people and customers who can receive a COVID vaccination to get vaccinated as soon as they can.

Health Insurance stores in New South Wales

From Monday 18 October, our Health Insurance stores will reopen to customers who are fully vaccinated. Under the NSW Government’s rules, customers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have evidence of this in order to enter retail stores – this rule applies to all Bupa Health Insurance retail stores in New South Wales.

Aged Care visits in New South Wales

From Monday 11 October, family members can once again visit their loved ones in our NSW aged care homes. Under the NSW Government’s rules, aged care residents can have two visitors per day provided visitors are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (and received the second dose at least 14 days prior to their visit) and are aged 12 years and over. We note that there is an exception for up to two unvaccinated people to visit a resident for an end of life visit. They must always wear a surgical mask and the visit must be solely inside the resident's room.

We look forward to being part of some wonderful reunions with our residents and their loved ones soon.

We know how important it is to stay connected with loved ones, if you are not yet vaccinated, or if you have a medical exemption, please call the care home to discuss the available options.

Dental and Optical services in New South Wales

Bupa’s Dental clinics and Optical stores in NSW are open to customers. COVID-safe measures remain in place and there are no vaccination requirements to accessing these essential healthcare services, however Bupa encourages all customers to be vaccinated.

Our Sydney clinic will remain temporarily closed. We are working to recommence services as soon as possible.
