Chris Carroll appointed CEO, Bupa UK Insurance
Chris Carroll has been appointed CEO, Bupa UK Insurance and Kate Williams has been appointed Acting Managing Director, Health Insurance, Australia.
Bupa today announced that Chris Carroll, Bupa Managing Director, Health Insurance, Australia, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, Bupa Health Insurance in the United Kingdom (UK).
Chris will move to London to take up the role in January 2025, reporting to Carlos Jaureguizar, CEO for Bupa Global, India & UK. Kate Williams, currently Director, Domestic Retail Portfolio, Health Insurance will be appointed to the role of Acting Managing Director, Health Insurance in Australia.

Chris will bring his extensive experience in Australia’s mature private health market to lead the ambitious transformation plans for Bupa UK Insurance.
Under his leadership, Bupa’s Health Insurance footprint in Australia has grown to more than 4.4 million customers and following seven consecutive quarters of growth, now has a market share of more than 25% in Australia’s highly competitive market. Chris has worked to revolutionise the customer experience with a strong focus on creating value for customers, delivering new products, and working together with Bupa’s Australian dental business to provide increased value to health insurance members.
Chris joined Bupa in November 2020 as Director, Domestic Retail Portfolio, Health Insurance, before being appointed to the role of Bupa Managing Director, Health Insurance, Australia in March 2022. He has more than 25 years’ commercial experience including most recently as CEO of WS Audiology Asia Pacific. He also held senior roles in media and telecommunication industries in Australia and Europe.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University. He also completed post graduate studies in Executive Finance from INSEAD Business School and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kate has been with Bupa for more than three years, starting as General Manager, Customer Strategy and Go-to-Market, before becoming Director, Domestic Retail Portfolio, in March 2022. In this role Kate has been responsible for delivering products and services for Bupa’s retail customers in Australia and has a deep knowledge in customer, product, growth, and transformation.
An internal and external executive search process is now underway for the permanent Managing Director Health Insurance role.
