Disaster relief for flood affected NSW and Queensland customers

Summary

Following the wild rains and flooding in New South Wales and Queensland in recent weeks, Bupa is providing hardship relief to impacted health insurance customers.

Bupa health insurance customers who have qualified for the NSW and Southern Queensland Floods Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment can apply to have their premium fees waived for three months while still being able to make full use of their health insurance policy[1].

Emily Amos, Managing Director Bupa Health Insurance, said she was devastated to see the impacts of the recent weather after what had been a challenging year for so many Australians.

“In the aftermath of tragic events like this, the last thing people need to worry about is paying their household bills. We hope that waiving premiums for impacted members will give them one less thing to worry about during this difficult time,” Ms Amos said.

More than 7,500 Bupa Health Insurance members live in the flood zones around the Hawkesbury-Nepean, Clarence and Hunter rivers.

Customers can apply for the flood relief package through to 30 June 2021 and are encouraged to contact Bupa on 134 135, in store, or at BupaFloodRelief@bupa.com.au.

Bupa Pet Insurance customers whose insured pets require access to emergency boarding as a direct result of these recent floods can also apply to have those emergency boarding costs covered until Monday 26 April 2021.

[1] To be eligible for this offer, customers must have been a Bupa member on 1 March 2021 and apply by 30 June 2021, providing us with evidence of the NSW and Southern Queensland Floods Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment issued from the Department of Human Services.
