Disaster relief for flood affected South East Queensland Northern New South Wales

Summary

Bupa today announced disaster relief available for customers affected by the devastating floods across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Bupa health insurance customers* who have qualified for the Federal Government Disaster Relief Payment can apply to have their premium fees waived for three months while still being able to make full use of their health insurance policy.

Bupa Health Insurance Managing Director Emily Amos said it was devastating to see so many people impacted by floods in communities across SE Queensland and Northern NSW, with people already losing their lives.

“The rising floodwaters have already displaced so many people, with more rain to come, and the last thing they need to worry about is paying their household bills when they need to be focused on their and their loved ones safety and wellbeing,” Ms Amos said.

“We hope that waiving premiums for impacted members will give them one less thing to worry about during this difficult time,” Ms Amos said.

The Federal Government Disaster Relief Payment is currently available to those in Gympie and North Burnett region, however will be expanded as other areas become eligible for Federal Government support.

Customers can apply for the flood relief package through to 31 July 2022 and are encouraged to contact Bupa on 134 135, in store (once impacted stores have reopened) or at bupafloodrelief@bupa.com.au. There may be a delay for phone enquiries due to the personal impact on our call teams.

*To be eligible for this offer, customers must have been a domestic Bupa member on 24 February 2022 and apply by 31 July 2022. They are required to provide evidence that have received or can provide confirmation that they will receive the Federal Government Disaster Recovery Payment from Services Australia.
