Dr Michael Walsh joins Bupa ANZ board

Dr Walsh is a senior health executive with more than three decades’ leadership and clinical experience across Australia and the Middle East, spanning major hospital operations, clinical practice and health system reform.

Most recently, Dr Walsh returned to Australia after completing five years as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in Saudi Arabia, a joint venture between Johns Hopkins International and Aramco. Prior to this, he served as CEO of Cabrini Hospital in Melbourne for 11 years and previously led Alfred Health as CEO for seven years.

He has held executive roles with the Western Australian Department of Health, including Medical Director at Fremantle Hospital, and senior leadership positions within Victoria’s Department of Health supporting the introduction of case mix funding. Internationally, he has held leadership roles with the UK National Health Service in the South East London Strategic Health Authority and also worked in Qatar. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.
