New Norfolk Bupa KidFit Series cancelled due to wet weather forecast

Unfortunately, due to poor weather, the popular Bupa KidFit Series that was being held in New Norfolk on Saturday 24 February 2018 has been cancelled.

In the 2018 KidFit series terms and conditions, point 15 indicates that if the event is cancelled or rescheduled, the entry fee will be refunded by the event organiser.

The New Norfolk event was expected to have over 100 kids participate in the Triathlon and over 80 kids in the Fun Run held at New Norfolk Swimming Pool, Cnr The Esplanade & Page Ave.

The triathlon is open to children of all abilities aged 7-15yrs and was established 19 years ago to support Tassie families’ health and wellbeing.

AFL legend and Bupa Australia’s Head of Market Development Peter Hudson and Life. Be In It’s Stephen Dimsey were both involved in the creation of the series back in 1999. Bupa Australia and Life. Be In It continue to be proud partners of the KidFit Series.

Over the course of the event’s 19-year history, an estimated 20,000 kids have participated and have swum a combined distance of 2,000km, ridden 30,000km and run more than 12,000km.

The series runs throughout February and March 2018 across Tasmania:

  • Lauderdale - Sunday 25 February

  • Blackmans Bay - Sunday 4 March

  • Ulverstone - Saturday 17 March

  • Launceston - Sunday 18 March

You can still register for the other events at www.kidfitseries.com.au.

Triathlon entry for all Bupa members and their family is $5. The Team Family Fun Run is open for all ages and will take participants on a choice of either a 1km or 2km loop course. It’s free though a gold coin donation that will be donated to the local little Athletics club.

Bupa Australia’s Peter Hudson is one of the series’ founders and said: “This is our 19th year of the series and is a great way for families to be active together in a friendly environment and for kids to have fun with their families and create lifelong memories together.

“I’ve been a part of all the events over the past 19 years and I’m looking forward to attending all the events again this year! It’s been fantastic to see the positive impact that it’s had on Tasmanian families over the years and this is now being passed on to the next generation. We’ve had some parents come up to us to tell us that they used to take part in the triathlon as youngsters, and now they’re bringing their kids along. It’s a great day out.”

Stephen Dimsey from Life. Be In It said: “The series aims to encourage Tassie families to get together, have fun and improve their health and wellbeing.

“The events are designed for all abilities so everyone can get involved. It encourages families to get into healthier habits together and shows that these can be achieved in fun, simple ways.

“Good health and wellbeing habits are shown to give kids the best start in life and ultimately reduce long-term chronic health risks.”

Bupa health insurance members will also receive a discount. For more information, and to secure your spot, visit www.kidfitseries.com.au.
