Nurturing the dental leaders of tomorrow

Summary

With dental practices around Australia aiming to attract new, high-performing talent[1], Bupa Dental Care is looking to inspire the next generation of dentists by giving them the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the nation’s most respected dental professionals as part of its 2024 Graduate Program.

The 12-month graduate program is designed to offer dental graduates a practical, supported, and dynamic learning experience along with a dedicated mentor and the opportunity to work and grow across Bupa’s Dental Care’s network of 180 practices around Australia.

Bupa Dental Care Director, Ros Blakley said the Graduate Program reflects an unwavering commitment to professional development and growth at Bupa Dental Care.

“We take immense pride in our network of talented dentists who are eager to share their skills and experience with budding professionals in dentistry.

“Mentors in the program tailor their coaching programs to accommodate the individual needs of their mentees. This personalised approach ensures that each graduate receives meaningful, targeted support, across various aspects of dental practice - from treatment planning and case discussions to tackling complex procedures,” Dr Blakley said.

Understanding the importance of networking for new dentists as they kick off their careers, graduates will participate in at least three in-person events as part of the refreshed program, including Bupa Dental Care’s flagship Dental Conference on the Gold Coast in February 2024.

Lois Livingstone, a 2023 Bupa Dental Care Graduate Dentist said the adjustment from student dentist to a general dentist was made easier at Bupa Dental, with colleagues providing reassurance and support, whenever needed.

“My weekly meetings with my mentor have allowed me to reflect, laugh and most importantly learn in the clinic. My clinical confidence as a whole has improved since joining the program and believe this also has developed my identity as a dentist,” Lois said.
