Premium relief for residents affected by Wooroloo bushfires

Summary

Bupa announced today that it will offer disaster relief packages to support customers affected by the devastating Wooroloo bushfire.

Bupa health insurance customers who have been impacted by the fires will be able to choose between having their premiums fees waived for three months or longer-term discounts on their policy[1].

Importantly, customers accessing the disaster relief package will still have access to all the benefits of their health insurance during this time.

Bupa Managing Director of Health Insurance, Emily Amos, said she hopes this premium relief will go towards easing some of the worries that many people are feeling at this time.

“Our hearts go out to those who have been impacted by these devastating fires and our immediate thoughts and focus are on the safety and care of our customers, our people and all those living in the affected region,” Ms Amos said.

“Every bushfire-affected household has its own story and unique financial situation, that’s why we are offering customers the choice of relief packages to help support them through the challenging period ahead.”

Approximately 5,000 Bupa Health Insurance members live in Wooroloo, Perth Hills and surrounding areas where more than 80 homes have been destroyed along with about 11,000 hectares of land.

“The people of WA have a strong sense of community which we see first-hand every day in our health insurance stores, optical stores and our dental practices. We are both humbled and inspired by the community’s response as well as the bravery shown by local firefighters,” Ms Amos said.

Customers can apply for the bushfire relief package through to 31 May 2021 and are encouraged to contact Bupa on 134 135 or bupabushfirerelief@bupa.com.au to discuss their options and how they can access support.
