Stopping suffering before it starts

As a doctor deeply committed to illness prevention, I’ve always believed that the most compassionate form of healthcare is one that stops suffering before it starts.
Joining Bupa’s eco-Disruptive program has been exciting opportunity to further this mission through collaborating with the start-up community. The program also aligns with my values of innovation, prevention and sustainability, and I’m privileged to collaborate with like-minded individuals and startups who are equally passionate about making a positive impact in preventative healthcare.
My team chose to partner with LenexaCARE® because it has the potential to make a significant impact in aged care homes by improving patient outcomes and reducing staff workload through early detection and prevention of pressure injuries. These preventable wounds can cause immense pain and hardship, yet they remain a challenge in many healthcare settings with pressure injuries costing the Australian healthcare system over $9B per annum.
A new solution to an aged care issue
The Lenexa medical technology puts the patient at the centre. It provides clinicians with non-subjective, personalised data to monitor patient position, posture and presence, enabling early intervention and prevention, and saving nurses time. There are added benefits of falls prevention and reduction in accidental injuries.
A learning journey
Through participating in the eco-Disruptive program, we have learned a lot of new things, particularly about balancing innovation with everyday work responsibilities. Our biggest win has been the progress made in understanding how to integrate Lenexa’s technology into our processes.
Our vision is for a future of connected care and through our work in the eco-Disruptive program we want to help bring affordable and potentially life-saving technology to the people who need it most. It’s a cause that is not only noble but also deeply humane… looking forward to developing something special over the coming weeks!
